Meet our Fabulous Swim Team Coaches for Summer 2025

Head Coach

Josh Hall

This is Josh Hall’s second year as the Sequoia Cyclones Head Coach. Josh grew up playing water polo, led his collegiate water polo team, and carried his love for swimming beyond his college career. He has extensive coaching experience having coached at local clubs and schools around Nashville. He is a certified Level 2 Head Coach via USA Swimming, a certified Level 3 Head Coach via the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA), and has multiple certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE). When not coaching the Sequoia Cyclones, Josh is a Division 1 NCAA Women’s Basketball Official. He’s also husband to Lilly and dad to Mary Mabel (and Pearl the dog!). His family loves to play outside in their garden, hike around Percy, Edwin, Radnor and Bowie Parks and travel. From Josh: “I’m so excited to be back at Sequoia for a second season! I’m a lifelong coach and mentor, and I’ve made it my business to learn and practice what works when it comes to inspiring kids and athletes of all ages. I believe in process, not product, embracing improvement over perfection, and the practice of transforming people in order to transform athletes. I look forward to continuing to build our swim program and our community through a pursuit of excellence, a dedication to the process, and a love for each other. Here’s to another great summer!”

Assistant Head Coach

Sarah Ockenhouse

This is Sarah's third summer with Sequoia and she feels so lucky to be back with the swimmers and families that make each summer so memorable. Sarah started swimming when she was six years old for her local summer pool and never looked back! Growing up in the DC area, she swam for Nations Capital Swim Club through high school. She landed in Nashville as a student at Vanderbilt and now loves her jobs doing education research, programming for a local literacy nonprofit, and swim coaching year-round! Sarah loves the energy of summer swimming, dressing up for theme days, and watching young swimmers cheer each other on. When she’s not in the pool, you can find her running, cycling, and eating around town!
